The laws in the Old Testament were set forth by God as the rules the Hebrews needed to follow in order to be righteous, to atone for the sin of Adam and Eve and to be able to get into Heaven. That is also why they were required to make sacrifices, because it was part of the appeasement for Original Sin.

According to Christian theology, when Jesus came from Heaven, it was for the express purpose of sacrificing himself on the cross so that our sins may be forgiven. His sacrifice was supposed to be the ultimate act that would free us from the former laws and regulations and allow us to enter Heaven by acting in his image. That is why he said “it is finished” when he died on the cross. That is why Christians don’t have to circumcise their sons (God’s covenant with Jacob), that is why they don’t have to perform animal sacrifice, or grow out their forelocks, or follow any of the other laws of Leviticus.

When you quote Leviticus as God’s law and say they are rules we must follow because they are what God or Jesus wants us to do, what you are really saying, as a Christian, is that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was invalid. He died in vain because you believe we are still beholden to the old laws. That is what you, a self-professed good Christian, are saying to your God and his son, that their plan for your salvation wasn’t good enough for you.

So maybe actually read the thing before you start quoting it, because the implications of your actions go a lot deeper than you think.

So, I haven’t really said much on here other than that:

  1. I’m pregnant (announced at 12 weeks gestation, also when we first heard the heartbeat.)
  2. We’re having a GIRL (discovered at 18 weeks gestation.)

& that is really about it. I know there are tons of famous baby blogs out there (personally, my favorite is http://littlebabygarvin.blogspot.com/. On behalf of all pregnant women if you haven’t check her out… Do so.) But I would like to just share my experiences for those of you who don’t really know much about me, for those of you who do & for anyone who is going through the same wonderful game of pregnancy. :)

Flashback to December 30, 2011 shall we?

I was late. Only by a week but enough to make me panic, so I figured “I don’t want to take a chance & drink on New Years should I be pregnant so what the hell let’s take a test.” 45 minutes and one LARGE panic attack later I finally faced the fact that I was very much pregnant. From the minute I showed my boyfriend the two lines that changed our lives forever, he promised that somehow everything was going to be alright.

January 2012

My Doctor figured that I was probably about a month along when I found out, so they made my first prenatal visit for the end of January. I researched the internet and stocked up on Prenatal Vitamins, belly cream & began eating healthier/safely working out. My Dr’s office also sent a bunch of paperwork filled with guidelines, do’s & don’ts. This is also when we revealed to our closest family & friends + our boss (who were surprisingly relaxed and supportive, but we were petrified of telling them regardless.) The first prenatal appointment was pretty basic. It was too soon to hear a heartbeat, and I had to get about 7 vials of blood drawn- needless to say Boyfriend took this momma to Arby’s to chow down. As far as morning sickness- I lucked out to the max. I would feel nauseous but dry crackers and trail mix were my savior. I only threw up twice (two more times than my sisters did during their first pregnancies- who both had boys and was convinced I was having a girl.)

February 2012

At this point everyone was starting to get antsy and ready to spill the beans. We appreciated their excitement but we wanted to wait until we heard the heartbeat before we made it known to everyone. Then on the 22nd, there it was. At first they couldn’t find it with the Doppler [enter panic mode] but they got me in for an ultrasound, and we heard it. Smiles a mile wide with tears in our eyes, there was our baby :)

We put it on Facebook that very hour and got TONS of “likes” and “Congrats!” So very much appreciated and I’m still so thankful.

March 2012

Nothing really notable. My sister had her baby shower, I was busy with school, so on and so forth. Boyfriend & I couldn’t agree on names to save our lives and we didn’t even know what we were having yet. Which leads us to…

April 2012

On the 4th we went in &

GIRL :) We went to Babies R Us & Target to register as soon as we found out. I was SO excited when she told us, but seriously, I had just drank a liter of water. Held it for an hour. And had a transducer pushing down on my belly for 15 minutes. I really just had to pee SO bad. Also in April, my sister had her baby Boy on the 24th. He is precious! <3 Aunt Lo loves her nephews.

May 2012

So let’s see. I graduated (yay! With honors but NBD.) After graduation (which I guess technically happened April 29th but screw it) some of my closest friends and I took a trip to Mackinaw for a weekend. It was glorious. Other than that May has just been spent relaxing, ordering TONS of baby stuff, and settling on what house we are going to rent out. Memorial Day weekend was delightful. Lots of QT with my friends and boyfriend. Today is the 29th & I started my summer externship FINALLY :) So far so good. I should be all done by mid-July. And, I am almost done with my 26th week of pregnancy. Baby Girl is moving like crazy everyday and I love it… Even when she kicks me in the ribs. We also picked out a name after much debate.

Aubree Mae Correa <3

Has a nice ring to it, eh?

Once we get in our house & I get started on the nursery I’ll post pictures… Let’s just say I have LOTS of ideas I can’t wait to try out. I’d post belly pictures but the last one I took was at 16 weeks. I’m too crazy busy, plus I doubt anyone REALLY cares too much about my belly anyway…

So that’s it for now :) I’m a pretty open book when it comes to my pregnancy- probably because it’s been so easy thus far (knock on wood…) I’ve gained about 18 pounds, I eat like it’s going out of style and I LOVE anything chocolate currently. The more chocolate the better. Other than that I’ve had no strange cravings and nothing that makes me inexplicably ill. Here’s hoping it stays that way :)

Even though this might be more for my own benefit, I’ll post later in June about my pregnancy must haves, diet, shower details, etc. Cross your fingers we’re in our house by then… It’s a work in progress but it’ll be so perfect.
